Question: What classical works of fiction are the Twilight books most like!?
So far all 3 books have had some obvious outside influence as inspiration!. I was just wondering which books you people feel are closest to the Twilight series from a literary standpoint!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They've got the whole "Romeo and Juliet" forbidden love thing, though that's hardly an original concept!.

I really can't condone comparing this series to any classic literature whatsoever, in terms of thematic and aesthetic development!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

From uh, a literary standpoint!? Personally, I don't think that "classics" and Meyer's "Twilight series" should be in the same sentence!. They are not like classics at all and shouldn't be considered such!. What inspired Meyer!? The great promises of money her book could make, I'm sure!.

Her obvious outside influence was, I think, a quest to break down and destroy all decent ideas of women being independant, strong, and for an equal, loving relationship!.

Didn't insult anyone!. Don't report me!. I'll appeal it, and I'll win!.

Twilight, has been called a modern day Romeo and Juliet, but it is based on Pride and Prejudice
New Moon was loosly based on Romeo and Juliet as well
Eclipse- Wurthering Heights
Breaking Dawn will be A Midummernight's Dream, and another book Stephenie can't reveal until later!.

All loosy based, of course!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

'From a literary standpoint'!? Er!.!.!.Well, plotwise, they bear some semblance to their respective inspirations; Pride & Prejudice, Romeo & Juliet, Wuthering Heights!. But I find it difficult to really compare cheap romance novels to literature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, not so much a book as much as a television series!. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think Twilight is worth comparing with classics!. They are no where near to being on the same level to compare!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't mean to offend you, but are you aware of the meaning of literature!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
