I see someone beat me to this one but, yes, the Nero Wolfe mysteries are delightful! Among them, I would have to say my favorites are "Over My Dead Body" (which, aside from the mystery, readers also get a glimpse of Wolfe's personal side [which is hardly ever explored in the other novels]) and "The Golden Spiders (the first Stout book I ever read)!.

Most of the books are structured the same (Wolfe gets a client; someone close to the client is murdered; Archie Goodwin, his assistant, gathers clues for Wolfe, who refuses to leave his home; Wolfe solves the case; and a big denouement occurs in his office)!. But that aspect of predictability makes them very enjoyable to read!. Plus, Goodwin's banter provides some real laugh-aloud moments; but, for me, the highlight is Wolfe's enigmatic ways!. He's so eccentric he's almost unbelievable, yet I could definitely envision a person like him!.

Here's some of my other favorites from Stout:
"Fer-de-Lance" (the first Nero Wolfe novel)
"The Silent Speaker"
"The Second Confession" (great mystery and the ultimate in Goodwin wisecracks!)
"Prison's Base"
"The Black Mountain" (another personal novel for Wolfe)
"Champagne for One"
"The Mother Hunt"
"The Doorbell Rang"
"Death of a Dude" (Wolfe goes to a ranch!.!.!.enough said!)

Try any of them (there are many more titles than the ones listed) - you won't be disappointed!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Any of the Nero Wolfe stories by Rex Stout!. Outstanding details, fantastic characters, compelling plots and brilliant storytelling!. The narrator, Archie Goodwin, is one of my favorite characters of all time!.

For a more modern tale, and one that ties in nicely with Stout and other classic mystery authors, try John Lescroat's "Son of Holmes"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Eitherthe Pretty Little Liars Series, or the Private Series!.

PLL is more suspenseful and a murder series, but Private is more of an everything book (murders, mystery, romance, teenagers at boarding school, girl issues, etc!.)

I really like them bothWww@QuestionHome@Com

And Then there were None by Agatha Christie, but all of her book are good murder mysteries so you can go with any one really!. I just really like the book "And Then there were None"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Any of the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle!.

Anything else, kind of seems unoriginal!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Echo Park by Michael ConnellyWww@QuestionHome@Com
