Question: Is His Dark Materials a good book series!?

I just started the Golden Compass like the third chapter, but I want to make sure I'm not wasting my time!. The movie wasn't bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes, absolutely!. I found it hard to get into but about a quarter of the way through the first book I couldn't put it down!. the last book made me sob!. it's really a wonderful series!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is superb! Pullman is a wonderful storyteller, I can’t recommend the series enough!. It is exactly the type of book that I think more young people should have read!. I wish I had read it at a younger age!.

As others have said, the third book (The Amber Spyglass) has some flaws… it is too long and it is unnecessarily ridiculous in places!. It does however have some stunning parts in it also!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I haven't read them, but I must admit I was put off them by a bookseller I know who said that the books are "full of hate!." I understand they are strongly anti-christian in tone, and in particular anti-Catholic!. I do not particularly want to read them as I find militant atheism a bore, but a lot of people have enjoyed them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well!.!.!. personally, I hate it!. Because the enemy in the book is actually supposed to represent God, and then the main characters kill him in the end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i love the series, its a really interesting book!. The subtle knife is the best one!. The book starts out confusing, but then you get hooked!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
