I'd recommend that you visit the closest library first, and ask the reference librarian if he/she knows of any local book clubs!. The librarian should also be able to tell you who the group leader is of that book club!. Then write the book club leader an email to find out if you would "fit" into the group -- i!.e!., is a group of women (or men, or mixed) of approximately your same age!. Ask the leader what books they've read over the past six months or so, and consider whether you have read -- and enjoyed -- any of the books that club has recently read!. If that route doesn't pan out, then go to your local bookstore and try the same thing!. This time, of course, you'll ask a salesclerk to recommend a club!. And if you can't find a group to join in either case, then you'll have to gather up about seven or eight of your friends and START YOUR OWN!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I belonged to a neighborhood book club before we moved away!. I was a latecomer, so I went along with the rules they had already established!. They only read non-fiction, primarily histories and biographies!.

I'm not much of a non-fiction history reader, but it was very interesting to reach outside my comfort zone!.

We each got our own copies in whatever way we could!. Check out from the library (which only works for fast readers), buy used or buy new!.

The club itself was free!. We rotated hosting duties and met at each other's homes once a month!.

Because we lived in a history-rich area of the country, there were also a couple of "field trips" every year to different Civil or Revolutionary War battlegrounds and such!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
