Question: Should my main character have OCD!?
I'm about to start working on a new novel!. The main protagonist is a man who, after a series of severely traumatic experiences, realizes that in a past life he was a deranged serial killer, and what he knows as reality is actually hell!. (I know this sounds far fetched, it made sense in my head!.)
I think it would be interesting to make him have OCD, only I'm worried that it would be difficult to empathize with him!. also, as it's written in first person, so I might find it hard to write from his perspective and mess the whole thing up!.
PLEASE don't say how insanely awful this plot is!.

I think it would be really interesting, and also entertaining at times to have the main character have OCD!. I say entertaining not because I think the disorder is funny, but sometimes the little ticks can be comical!. I would recommend doing a lot of research so that it will be easier for you to write OCD from a first-person perspective!. There's a book titled 'Crack in the Sidewalk' by Ruth Wolff!. I can't find much info about it online when I search now, but I think that's the name of it!. I read it years and years ago and its about a little girl with OCD!. Good luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would give him a minor case of OCD, nothing major!. If you're worried about ruining the book though, I wouldn't, because it shows that you're insecure with what could happen to the novel!.

I like the plot!. I think that giving your character OCD might be a bit much though!. Isn't it enough to realize he's in Hell!? It would be interesting to read a story from that point of view but, you're right, it could be hard to write and relate to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Your plot is twisted, and I love it!. I think OCD would add to the character!. It may make him a bit difficult, but I think it would make it even better!. But it won't be easy, especially since it's in first person!. Good luck, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
