or was he based on a real person, or was he entirley fictional!.

he was based on a killer in the 1950s!. He was known as a vampire because he drank peoples blood (even though Hannibal didn't really do this)!. He was feared in Germany i believe!. I wish hannibal did exist :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

He was fictional, but the other killer in the book "Silence of the Lambs" ("Buffalo Bill") was loosely based on a real killer named Ed Gein, who was arrested in the 1950's!. He was found to have cut skin off of women's corpses, and would wear the skin around as if he was trying to become a woman!.
Ed Gein was the inspiration for quite a few fictional killers, including Norman Bates in "Psycho", and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"!.
