Question: Villain of the Scarlet Letter!?
Ok, I have not read the book in-depth, and unfortunately do not have time!. I understand Robert Chillingworth is the Villian, and the Puritan Society can be seen as it too!. Can someone please explain why they are the villian(s) and give examples!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pretty sure it's Roger Chillingworth!. But he's the villain because he is getting in the way of our protagonist's dreams!. Like either being with the man she loves or living a decent life with he child!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Chillingworth is not the villain, Puritan society is!. Hawthorne wrote TSL to show people how awful Puritan society was!. (His great-great grandfather was a Puritan judge who sentenced women to die in the Salem witch trials!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com
