You're dead right, the Bible version is very difficult to understand and there are lots of interpretations that can be put on it!. The Revelation to John, in which the Horsemen appear, was written at a time of Christian persecution and it's intention was to encourage Christians to maintain their faith in the face of suffering and persecution!.
The horsemen appear when four seals are broken allowing John to see them in his dream!. The four horses are coloured white, red, black, and pale, and their riders represent conqueror, warfare, judgment, and death respectively!.
Why they should be more popularised than other parts of John's dreams is a bit of a mystery but it's probably the poetic translation into English provided by the scholars of the King James Version!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
