The prologue lays out the story!. It generally contains the main characters, or reason for the world's condition!.!.!.!. in character, if you will!.!.

The preface is an explanation of why a book was written!. Out of character, to use the same analogy!.!.!.

There are also "Forwards" that are generally written by a guest author proclaiming how genius the author of the book is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

a prolouge is like what happens before the story, a preface is what the author wants you to know they kinda put it in a letter by someone before the story begins, sometimes its written by someone else for that specific story and sometimes its just something that they decided to add before the story because it applies!. a prolouge is different in the sense that its part of the story where a preface is not!. i looked it all up in the dictionary to make sure but im pretty sure this is what i learnt in response to the preface before frankenstein!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
