Question: How well does Mr!. Gilmer prove Toms guilt in the eyes of the reader and in the jury!?

not well- he doesn't convince either!. the readers are clearly not convinced because there is no evidence whatsoever with which to convict Tom- we all know he's innocent!. the jury aren't unintelligent people- they realize this too!. however, they are racist, prejudiced people who decide to convict Tom even though his guilt hasn't been proven to them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He doesn't in either!. The reader knows Tom is not guilty (or at least there's reasonable doubt, and with doubt you aren't supposed to be arrested)!. The audience knows it, too, but he went to jail because reasonable doubt didn't change him from being a black man who 'came onto' a white woman!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
