Question: Who wrote the Bible!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The original Bible (or scriptures/Gospels) as revealed to Jesus Christ was the word of God!. However, over time the Bible was changed and modified that very little of it is what God actually revealed to Jesus - hence why there are different versions and each country has a different version!. The modern Bible as seen today is mostly stuff written by different people over centuries (by priests/bishops i think)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Catholic Church!. I'm Catholic but to be honest they WROTE it "through the teachings of God"!. Yeah whatever they just picked out bits from Jesus's teachings and they chose 4 gospels that suited the image of the church!.

EDIT: People the Catholic church wrote the current Bible!. The Bible that is used by catholics and CofE anyway, but other braches of cristianity based their version of the bible on the version catholic church wrote!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

divinely inspired humans!. Many divinely inspired humans!.

Traditionally (and unprovably), Moses is supposed to have written the 1st 5 books!. David is considered the author of the Psalms and possibly the Song of Songs; Solomon is the other traditional author of that as well as Proverbs!. There were 3 Isaiahs according to my Bible studies professor (3 styles of writing)!. The books of the prophets (Hosea, Ezekial, etc) are supposed to have been written by those men, and I think Jeremiah is actually written by a man named Baruch (!?) who was Jeremiah's disciple!. The rest of the Old Testament is anonymous!. And frankly, most of it is untraceable to specific individuals based on age and the fact that the Mideast, esp the part around Israel, is probably one of the most wartorn areas in the entire world!. Hard to keep records in those circumstances!.
As for the New Testament, it's generally accepted that Luke wrote his gospel & Acts; Matthew & Mark wrote their gospels; John wrote his gospel, plus Revelation!. Paul wrote most of the Epistles, except for the ones labeled Peter, etc!.

And for the person who commented about the Catholic Church; the early church, which was in essence the Catholic one, picked out which religious texts would end up in the Bible, and in what order (Paul's letter to the Romans is actually one of his later ones, but it's 1st in the Bible)!. They didn't write them or commission them; the material already existed!. It is fact that there are other gospels besides the 4 we know, for example!. I always wondered how John's Gospel got in there--it's so different!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A number of extremely confused, hallucinating men wrote the different books of the Bible!. Very interesting stories though!. Quite similar to mythology!.!.!.ie: long hair being the source of Samson's strength, Jonah being swallowed by a whale and living in his belly, great bodies of water just parting into a perfect path!.!.!.!. Very creative!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ultimately, above the human authors, the Bible was written by God!. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the Bible was "breathed out" by God!. God superintended the human authors of the Bible so that while using their own writing styles and personalities, they still recorded exactly what God wanted to be said!. The Bible was not dictated from God, but it was perfectly guided and entirely inspired by Him!.

Humanly speaking, the Bible was written by approximately 40 men of diverse backgrounds over the course of 1500 years!. Isaiah was a prophet, Ezra was a priest, Matthew was a tax-collector, John was a fisherman, Paul was a tentmaker, Moses was a shepherd!. Despite being penned by different authors over 15 centuries, the Bible does not contradict itself and does not contain any errors!. The authors all present different perspectives, but they all proclaim the same one true God, and the same one way of salvation—Jesus Christ (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)!. Few of the books of the Bible specifically name their author!.
