Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes and no!. Yes, because like someone above pointed out, it has an aspect of Cinderella in it!.

However, I see this as realistic fiction, in a way, which rules out the general genre of fairy tale!. Although Jane Eyre has some mentions of myths and fairy tales, they do not, overall, dominate the novel!. It's just a tale about two lovers who had hard lives despite their major class difference, and how they find solace and passionate love in one another!. A very uplifting story =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I don't!. A fairy tale is a story that normally features folklore characters, enchantment/magic and has a completely outrageous set of circumstances and/or sequence of events!.
Jane Eyre, even though it features a ghostly sighting, is a very good example of Victorian literature; the attitudes and superstitions of the Victorians are well represented!. By using the fantastic, Bronte informs the reader of concealed emotional subtexts in the novel!. She accomplishes this by weaving in references to fairy tales, prophetic dreams, mythic imagery and extraordinary plot twists!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm with Leheira2: it's a Gothic romance, a work of Gothic fiction!.

It's not a fairytale or a fantasy story, but a story of a very independent woman who does what she believes to be right in a time when a woman was supposed to be subordinate to the man in her life (whether a father, guardian, brother or husband)!.

Though Gothic, it is firmly grounded on terra firma!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes I do! judging on the time frame this book is set in it is almost like for that time a modern day fairy tale! In Jane u can see a Cinderella aspect! of how the servant becomes a princess in away! and ho true love can prevail and can over come anything live throws at you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
