Yahoo! Answers would work so much better if those of you who asked vague questions reworded them!. In your case, you should have asked "Who can tell me if this quote is in Great Expectations!?" Then, had any GE scholars seen your question, they would probably have been interested in clicking on the question to see its details!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's no one answer to this question!. It depends on the edition of the book!. Great Expectations has been around for a long time, so it's been published a lot of different ways!. Each print run tends to be a little different due to the size of the print face, width of the margins, size of the paper, etc!. This changes how much space the words take up, and so there's no standard for which lines will appear on which pages of the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Both your quotes have spelling errors, but they're otherwise accurate!.

"Take nothing on its looks; take everything on evidence!. There's no better rule!." Chapter 40, spoken by Mr!. Jaggers to Pip!.

"So, throughout life, our worst weaknesses and meannesses are usually committed for the sake of the people whom we most despise!." Chapter 27, thought by Pip!.

Page numbers vary so much from one edition to another that I'm not even going to bother getting my copy off the shelf!. The first quote is about halfway through chapter 40, and the second is right at the beginning of chapter 27!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The quotes are from the book but I am separated from the book - good luck!.
