I couldn't really get into the LOTR novels, but I did really enjoy The Hobbit!. You could try reading that one first!.

If you want some good romance, historical fiction, check out books about the Tudors and King Henry VIII (8th)!. Philippa Gregory is a great author with all kinds of Tudor related books!. My favorites are The Other Boleyn Girl (way better than the movie!!!!), The Queen's Fool, The Constant Princess, and The Boleyn Inheritance!. She also has a historical series unrelated to the Tudors, but I haven't read them yet!.

I can't recommend any magic/vampire series though, sorry!.

If you want any other Tudor related books, message me and I'll give you a list of my favorites!. =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You may like the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K!. Hamilton!. Although I will warn you that about half way through the series they do get a little bogged down with smut!. But the first seven or so are absolutely wonderful and great reads!.

They're set in modern day Saint Louis and follow the life of Anita Blake, a vampire executioner and necromancer!.

But look out, as they can be a little addictive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's this book sort of like Harry Potter, I have the first two, there's three at the moment!.
They're called Septimus Heap
The first is Magyk and the second is Flyte!.
Lord of the Rings is good,
There's another called The Historian, it's about Dracula and this somewhat modern, 1900s, quest for more, and it's an outstanding book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Elizabeth Peters has the "Amelia Peabody" series (at least 25 bks)!. It starts off with a British woman who travels to Egypt and falls in love with the country!. It takes place around the turn of the century (1890's)!. She meets a fellow Englishwoman down on her luck and two archaeologists brothers, one whom she cannot stand at first!. She loves to solve mysteries!. Lots of unusual things happen to and around her!. My powers of description are not very good but these books really are!. You should give them a try!. You should try to read them in order (as people get married, children are born, people die)!. The first is "Crocodile on the Sandbank!." I love these books!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think "The Lord Of The Rings" series is well worth reading!. The movies did only a half of what was in the books!. The only thing I didn't like was the extensive poetry and singing!.

For Historical Fiction, try Bernard Cornwell!. He focuses mainly on war epics, but he does extensive research into the historical events that he centers his plots upon!. Cornwell has done series set in the U!.S!. Civil War, the Hundred Years War, and the Napoleonic Wars as well as a detailed account of the King Arthur tale!. If you do not like the war epics, Cornwell's "The Gallows Thief" might interest you!.

If you want something a little lighter, try Robert Asprin & Linda Evans' "Time Scout" books!. The basis is that rips in time have occured and people can visit the past!. The rips in time are centered around a terminal where people choose various destinations in time!. The end result is a collection of books with lots of different settings and adventures-just find one that has a historical era you like!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
