Question: If writing a memoir, is it better to not use the full name of other people in your story!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I plan on writing a memoir someday and after consulting my creative writing teacher a few years back, received the following advice:

"It's better when writing about your life (especially the particularly difficult and emotional parts) to use fictitious names as not to run the risk of hurting or angering others, or of being sued!."

In my opinion, it would also give you the necessary distance to write more freely!.!.!.depending on what exactly your memoir includes, this freedom could prove useful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on how much you enjoy getting sued for defamation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm pretty sure you need their consent to do so- especially if you want it published!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
