I'm not quite sure what you are asking, but!.!.!.

Black and white enables the director to use shadow more efficiently!. It helps contrast characters-- "good vs evil"-- well, because you can place a "good" character in white, and the "bad" character in shadow so they look dark!. It helps portray emotion better too-- darkness signifying "evil" or "sadness" or "depression" or "suspense" or whatnot, white signifying "happiness" or "relief" or whatever!.
