What can I do to start writing again?

Question: What can I do to start writing again!?

I like to write!. I write short stories and poems off all genre, or at least I used to!. I haven't been able to write anything decent in over 3 years! Any tips on how to start writing again!? I have many ideas but I can't seem to get them out onto paper! HELP!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Get a writing book with exercises, like Ursula Le Guin's Steering the Craft or Janet Burroway's Fiction: A Guide to Narrative Craft!. Because you don't expect much of exercises, it's easy to get started!.!.!.and then the logjam breaks!.

also, give yourself permission to write badly!. Sit down and say, "I'm going to write one page of a story, and it's okay if it's the most unbelieveably bad crap!." It will probably be better than you thought, and at least you got started!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i can totally relate!. So on my laptop i have a document caled story idea and every time i get an idea i write it out but simplified!. So if its a story about a nerd whos rich but untoiced becoming noticed then i wil jot down a basic sotory line like nerd girl has huge cruch on jock but doesnt gt noticed by jock!. fid amazing prom dress!. goes to prom and popular girl tries to ruin it!. and if i ever have any extra time i would add onto the detials of the story until satifiied but unfortuantely havent been able to finish a story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Got any younger brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces!?!?!? Start reading to them!. That should open up the dam, and at the very least, make you realise which of your stories are any good (a slim few, maybe) and which aren't (most of them) once you give voice to them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i went through the same thing too but only for two months , i wrote again by listening to music alot and reading other novels !. also try writing in a journal everyday !. that helped me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
