Question: Any help with a high school summer reading list!?
So like any typical high schooler I have to read three books over the summer!. Luckily, we can choose our own books (with the exception that one of them has to be from a British author) but I'm having trouble with my third book!.!.!. I already chose Pride and Prejudice and 1984 but to balance things out a little bit I want my last one to be a *good* contemporary fiction book!.!.!. preferably with some humor but in-depth!. Nothing like Harry Potter, Twilight, or Shopaholic please!.!.!. I'm looking for something a bit more mature but still fun but still deep!. hehe sorry for all the requirements but any thoughtful suggestions would be appreciated :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I wish I had read Haruki Murakami when I was in high school!. Try Kafka on the Shore, which is newer, or Norwegian Wood!. Wind Up Bird Chronicle is his most famous, I believe!. All are amazing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow! There are so many things that fall under that category! ^_^ Maybe you could toss in some Stephen King or something!. While his novels are generally frightening and very contemporary, they also have some humor in them (dark humor, of course), and he usually is making a statement about society!. Maybe look at his book "Cell!." That was an excellent one!Www@QuestionHome@Com

How about these: (sorry can't remember some of the authors)

Thank you for Smoking by C!. Buckley
Little Green Men
Catch 22 by J!. Heller
Good Faith by J!. Smiley
Kill Two Birds and Get Stoned by K!. Friedman

They are all good books with humor!. Catch 22 is filled with humor and irony!.
Good luck with your reading!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hmm!. Invisible Monsters!? It's definitely for a mature audience, but it's by far one of the best books I've ever read!. There's also the typical high school books, And Then There Were None, To Kill A Mockingbird, Catcher In The Rye!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
