This book has more than meets the eye!. It cover a lot--life, death, dreams, and faith!.

This is a very different "American Dream" story than what most people think of (which is usually "The Great Gatsby")!. It is about turn-of-the-century working men, who live week-to-week and month-to-month, always building better lives in their heads than can ever be built by their work!. It's about trying to get ahead, but always having a handicap - brutality (Lennie), being crippled (Candy), being unwanted (Crooks), or having to take care of someone else (George)!. It is about young men and their dreams, and old men and their dogs, and the dream that all Americans carry of running away and living off the fat of the land!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its a great book I had to read it for English its really powerful, emotional, thought - provoking and shows the loneliness of the characters like George!. When he plays solitaire when they arrive at the ranch this is a typical one man's game!. Lenny is by far Steinbeck greatest character he is such a strong man but has the mind of a child we feel sympathy when George kills him!.

Lenny, and the story in general!.
Steinbeck captured Lenny in an amazing way! Just the story was captivating!. Steinbeck is an amazing writer and it definately showed in Of Mice and Men!. He made the story so real!. No one really writes classics anymore because no one remembers what it was like back then!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

OMM is special because it goes beyond the realms of typical literature!. Its taps into emotion and human behavior!. Lenny for example is a BIG guy, yet he is so sweet and truly innocent and you can see that through Steinbeck's writing!. The books also uses an ample amount of detail and symbolism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

maybe it would help if you got a dvd of this famous play that dramatizes how unequal people really!. some people are not so smart and need a little help and guidance!. the prisons are full of these people who just don't get it!. it was written to make you think!. the big strong fellow was loving, caring and loyal but he squeeze too hard!. he is like many others and you might consider whether or not he is really a villain or not!. does it make you think!?

(i saw james earl jones play the central figure in a live play!. he was great and it really made me think!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, I didn't think it was that fantastic either!. The Grapes of Wrath is a wonderful book, but I think that Steinbeck is quite overrated when you look at his whole library!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
