First, DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK!. If this is just for checking your answer, I will give you my opinion!.

Basically what this quote means is that a woman has to be extremely careful of how she behaves around men and in society altogether!. More importantly, this further means that once a woman opens up the Pandora's box of sexuality and looses her virginity, or acts in a questionable manner, there is no getting back her good reputation!.

So basically, what Mary Bennett means in this quote is that a woman should be extremely careful of how she acts around men!. Because you never know what types of gossip she can be te victim of!. The brittle part means that no woman's virtue or reputation is ever safe!. It is a very fragile thing!.

This is in one of the best parts of Pride and Prejudice!. It is in the part of the book where the Bennett daughters are home after Lydia runs away with Mr!. Wickham!.

I still think that some form of this still lives on today in the fashion of double standards with women!. If a women has sex with many partners, she is considered a whore but if a man does it, he is considered a stud!. This is purely relatively speaking!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you just take out any words you don't know and don't want to look up, easily done both online and off if you have a dictionary, you'll figure out what the quote means quite easily!.

Regarding opinion whether it's true today: no good woman needs a bounder as a boyfriend or husband!.
If a woman makes the mistake of hooking up with a 'low-life' for awhile, I don't think it entirely ruins her anymore, not if she initiates departure and sets her sights higher in the future, along with more knowledge on self-sufficiency and more self-esteem!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

that if you do something wrong like have sex too soon or whatever you can't take it back
& that you can't be too careful when making the decision to have sex
(!.!.!.and that she cannot be too much guarded in her behavior towards the undeserving of the other sex!.”

This sounds suspiciously like summer homework!.!.!.!.

Edit: I won't explain the quote because of that, but I do agree with it!. That it's still true today, and all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
