Question: If you made a book/movie how would it begin!?

If you are unpublished you need a good hook right at the very beginning to hold the attention of a publisher or their reader!. You have to grab them right from the start so they keep turning pages!. Unfortunately, some movies have great hooks but then they lag for a really long time and often they don't really have much of anything to do with the movie!. Try not to do this!. Hopefully it will be a hook that sets up the theme of your story in some way and sets into motion a chain of events!. Try to make it happen at a point in the story that you can still have something interesting happen on every page!. Of course you have to introduce characters and stuff at this point, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring!. Anyway, whatever your story is about make the hook really exciting or really intriguing depending on your genre!. If you want an example, in the book Nineteen Eighty-Four, right in the first few pages you are introduced to Big Brother through posters all over the walls (Big Brother is watching you!) the theme of the whole book!. You're introduced to a strange event called Hate Week, helicopter police who spy on the people through their windows, a dingy city with bomb craters all over, the four main government buildings that tower over the city and their seemingly contradictory and oppressive slogans and names written on their faces, and the main character's only solitary place in the corner of his apartment that's just outside the view of the cameras in the telescreens that permanently spy on the citizens in their own homes!. It's not exactly exciting, but it's certainly thought-provoking!.
