Question: I am a fan of Michel Crichton's and Dan brown's books!. Recommendations of other similar authors!?
A am looking for authors that write in the so-called "Techno-Thriller" genre!. Any suggestions would be much appreciatedWww@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The popular ones first!.!.!.

Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy jump to mind when I hear techno-thriller!. Both of them employ ghost writers these days, so watch out for the "apostrophe novels!."

Ludlum is good for techno-thrillers, too, but don't expect his writing to be much like the Bourne movies!. (I think he's a better writer than Clancy, but for sheer fun, I'd go for Cussler!.!.!. Cussler is probably the most like Chricton in that a lot of his books seem made to become movies!.!.!. and don't let book snobs tell you there's something wrong with that!.)

Maybe you would like Ian Flemming!. I never did, even though I'm a huge fan of the Bond movies!.

There's also John Le Carre, and while most people wouldn't classify his stuff as techno-thrillers, I would because the spies in his books use really cool but REAL methods and techniques, so there's not a lot of far-fetched, amazing gadgets or end-of-the-world plots, but it still tickles that part of the brain that craves techno-devices!.

Bryan Forbes wrote a very good spy thriller called The Endless Game and I see it a lot at thrift stores and such!.

Ooo, and if you want a supernatural tint, go with the Repairman Jack novels!. They're kind of techno-ish!.!.!. some of the villains and some of Jack's solutions to problems seem like they belong in a techno-thriller!. The second book in the series didn't have any supernatural things in it at all, and that one was my favorite (so far!.!.!. haven't read them all yet)!.

Another guy I like: Richard Hoyt!. He put some of his characters in the position of breaking into the CIA Headquarters (long before the movie Mission: Impossible did it) and it was quite satisfying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I really like Amazon, because if you look up a book that you already like - it shows you other recommendations for authors similar and what other people purchased that liked the same book that you did - it's really helpful and I've found some great new authors this way!

If you'll scroll down, Amazon also has really specific "tags" - breaking sci-fi books down to multiple categories even - that may be helpful for you too to see which categories the books you already like fit into!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Anything and everything from Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child!.
Start with Relic - it's an absolutely amazing book!
You may also like Ken Follet - he writes a lot of novels revolving around spies and the 2nd world war, but his writing is so unbelievably good that any story of his is worth reading!.
Start with a book like The Key to Rebecca or Eye of the Needle!.!.!. Night over Water!.!.!.!.
Oh, there are sooo many!

I actually went the other way around - read all the books from those two authors and am now working my way through crichton ;)Www@QuestionHome@Com
