Question: Writers, what inspires you!?
What inspires you as you write your story, what motivates the story!. Life experience perhaps!? Dreams!? Every day situations!? These are the most common answers I will most likely receive, but I want a little deeper answer than that!. Not so deep that it pries into your lives, but something more than what the average writer would say, like life experiences!. There got to be something more, something deep that motivates every word that your type or write into that paper or hardrive!. The thing that motivates me, is the craving to be different!. I read tons of books that seem to be about the same thing!. I want to read something different, something so different, but so good to that if will engulf you!. It is almost like, you have become the character, you are walking right beside him/her!. I haven't found that book yet, so I want to write that book!. That is what motivate s me, how about you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most of my writing experiences are based on my just wanting to get onto paper the thoughts that swirl around inside my head!. It's like a crazy fly that's trapped inside the house buzzing around trying to find it's way back outside!. I find myself contemplating mundane thoughts or thoughts that cut to the core of my spirit or thoughts about why some people should own bus passes instead of drivers licenses!.!.!.and some of these thoughts find their way to the uppermost top of my brain and keep knocking until pen and paper meet!. A union of thought and scribble!Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is a tough question!. I was complaining to a friend that I was feeling completely uninspired!. She just said, "Well, get inspired!."

So I've been pondering this question myself, and I've realized that my answer is basically as corny as it gets: The stars!.

The story I am writing is about a drug addict, so why the stars inspire me is completey beyond me!. But whenever I've felt that urge to write in the past few weeks, and it comes out better than usual, I try to think about the past few hours to see what it might have been!. The only constant has been star-gazing!.

It sounds silly, I know!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stories that actually happened, like when I was younger and mom would tell me about her old friends, or her own experiences, and I base stories upon that, just not exactly!. (of course not saying based on a true story if it is not) also on what we see in every day life, people trying to make ends meet, and trying to still have fun and enjoy life!.!.!.you know!? So you should write about something that really happend, include passion and thrills and good luck on that!.!.!.make it a best seller :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Eh, real life, dreams, the usual stuff!.

Most of the best stuff I come up with is when I just let my mind wander, usually while listening to mellow music, or epic stuff, like Pink Floyd or Rush!. I get lost in my own head and that's where I can find my most original ideas, if they aren't a bit strange!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

omg the SKY!. At night!? Thinking about planets and all that crazy crap going on up there that people down here are barely aware about!. There's so much we don't know or understand!.!.!.!.

Certain songs!.

And sometimes I'll wake up from a dream and come up with a story idea or character!.!.!.!.

Well, I'm working on a series inspired by a song I heard on the radio, and motivated by my desire to have a fantasy book that is somewhat realistic and intellectually stimulating!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I'm watching a movie, or looking at a picture, or reading a poem, or listening to music, there will be maybe little thing that sends my mind off into orbit and doesn't come down until I've outlined the entire book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Me!? I once wrote a story when all my friends had turned my back on me!. It helped me to blow steam!. So, i'm always inspired by everyday situations!.!.!.!.

Hope I helped!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Life experience and dreams!. It's what I put into my books!. My characters are so real, my worlds are so inescapable, you can't tell if you're in a movie or in real life--by the time you finish!.

And believe me, I'm not tooting my horn or bragging!. I'm just telling you that's how I write!.

I go for the full-body experience and nothing *but*!.

If someone wants to complain about the enormous lengths of my 300,000+ word tomes!.!.!.!?

I can direct them to one of managers!. I'm sure they will be able to set them straight!.

But from what I know, no commercial writer EVER writes with a true passion!. It's just a marshmallow facade!.

I try to--at *least*--bridge the gaps between myself and my readers, by giving them something they can all relate to!.

It's what is important!. Not money!. Not fame or fortune!. Or name-recognition!.

But what I have IS different!. Because that's how I write!. I take themes and ideas that would turn most people a real shade of red or pink!.

Subject matter that no conventional publisher would DARE touch without a lawyer (things like teen relationships, lesbian and gays, terrorism, religious ineuendo, and lots of other items of interests)!.

I try to open minds when I can, try to steer people in new directions with my writing, stuff like that!.

That's *different* for me!. Because it works!. Because I like it!. And I wouldn't have it any other way!. :0)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Inspiration is a lovely thing!. However, if I were to sit around and wait for my muse to whisper in my ear, I'd never write a word!. (My muse and I have agreed to hate each other from afar!. She's never any help when I need her anyway!.)

I write because I enjoy it, I'm halfway decent at it, it allows me to express my creative self, and I can do it at home!.

I used to be an actress, but family responsibilities don't allow me to take that much time away from home now!. I pour that drama onto the page instead!.

But again, being a real, working writer isn't about some ethereal inspiration or artistic angst!. It's about sitting your butt in the chair day after day and writing down what the strange voices in your head are saying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
