For a young adult/teen Meg Cabot's young adult books!. She is the best author!. also best selling!. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, Airhead and more!. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her!.

It all depends on the young adult in question!.!.!. Their likes, taste in genre, ect!. But here are a few that i personally like, and think would be good:
ANY of the Forgotten Realms or Dragonlance books!. also the Star Wars books!. These are all by various authors, although I love R!. A!. Salvatore and Kevin J!. Anderson!.
Any books by Terry Brooks as well!.!.!.
But the best i would say would be the Ender's series by Orson Scott Card!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
