I'll offer some suggestions from a variety of genres, so that you can choose what type of book you're in the mood for!.!.!.

For historical fiction (a lot of these contain underlying romance, as well):
-Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery (this series has eight books overall, the first one being Anne of Green Gables)!. This series takes place in the early 1900s, and is about a hot-headed, stubborn orphan girl who finds a way of fitting into the little town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island!. As the series progresses, the main character (Anne) grows up, marries, etc!.!.!.
-Anything by Jane Austen, such as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, etc!.!.!.Many of her books are about women of the 1800s and their attempts at fitting into society, finding romance/love, etc!.!.!.
-Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - This is about four sisters in the 1860s, and it portrays how the sisters grow up, find romance/love, etc!.!.!.

For fantasy/fiction:
-The Hobbit by J!.R!.R!. Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Tolkien!. Tolkien's books are filled with creativity, wonderful and imaginative characters, intelligence, and excellent writing!.!.!.
-The Chronicles of Narnia by C!.S!. Lewis - These may be written technically for children, but even adults can enjoy this series; this series is a very fun and magical read!. And the underlying messages in these books are very profound and intelligent!.
-When I was a little younger I enjoyed Tamora Pierce's fantasy books/series!. Her books are aimed at young adults, I believe!. My favorite series of hers was always Circle of Magic, which has four books, each one revolving around a kid with a special power!. Her series called The Song of the Lioness is also good; it's about a girl trying to become a knight!.

For something a little more classic, perhaps:
-Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift - This is about a sailor/captain of a ship who, throughout the book, ends up in four different, interesting lands - one of the lands is inhabited by tiny people, one is inhabited by giants, one is inhabited by talking horses, and one of the lands is a floating island!.!.!.
-Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
-To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
-A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens (and many other novels written by Dickens)

I wan't quite sure where to put this one, with regard to genre, but you could perhaps read Big Mouth & Ugly Girl by Joyce Carol Oates!. One of my friends gave that book to me a few years ago, and it has an interesting story!.!.!.It's about a boy (a "big mouth") who is falsely accused of something, and a girl (who calls herself "ugly girl") who may be able to help the boy prove his innocence!.!.!.

Best wishes!Www@QuestionHome@Com
