You need to get over the idea that "coffee-table books" are all pretentious and/or phony!. Some are, some are not!. Your friend's taste in books is really none of your business, when it comes down to it!.
If the sight of them offends you, why not offer to build her some bookshelves large enough to store them!?
Or instead of kicking her or yourself or the coffee table, why not just look through one or two and enjoy the experience, or discuss what you're reading with her like a human being!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
