Question: Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out the name of a fiction novel!?

Hi, I read this novel about 4 years ago that I really enjoyed and want to reread, and I think it has sequels too so I'd like to read those!. The book took place with a ~preteen aged boy, in winter!. He had to collect items that looked like circles with a + sign inside them!. They had special powers or something of the like!? Very sorry, not a lot of details coming to mind!.
