Hi there!.
I wasn't going to get involved in this one, but you are getting some seriously poor advice here!

you may as well go for the very best first and work around to the others so you will need:-
The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix!. these are the real deal, the "Mister Monday" etc books are good but for kids!.

The original Magician trilogy by Raymond Feist (Magician, Silverthorn, A Darkness at Sethanon) - top stuff
The Empire trilogy by Raymond Feist and Janny Wurts (Daughter, Servant and Mistress of the Empire)!. Building on the Magician trilogy and even better!
Ignore all other Feist for now!.

If you especially like LOTR, then you will need to dig up the works of Guy Gavriel Kay - the Finavar Tapestry trilogy, Tigana, A Song for Arbonne, for starters!. Absolute top drawer for adults, as good as it gets!.
Except for The Chronicles of Thomas Covenenat the Unbeliever by Stephen Donaldson!. You want the first 6, in order, plus the shorter Gilden Fire!. These are the best fantasy books apart from Tolkein and the only ones to equal Tolkein - massive books!. read them in order and Gilden Fire last (you'll see why)!.

Right, that should keep you going! one wild card suggestion, look for the Amber series by Roger Zelazny (10 short novels but they have been collected) - should be ideal for you also!.

This is directly based on your question, not just on what I like to read!
Enjoy, Steve!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I suggest the Redwall series of books by British author Brian Jacques!.

It is fantasy involving animals, they are young adult, but the books are wonderful!

I especially like MossflowerWww@QuestionHome@Com
