Well, if these are supposed to be more educational (for school):

Watership Down
The Count of Monte Cristo (abridged version)
The Hound of the Baskervilles
The Three Musketeers
The Grapes of Wrath (this one might not be as enjoyable)
The Lord of the Flies
Animal Farm
To Kill a Mockingbird

Some of those at the end you might have read during the year, so those might not be too helpful!. also, you should avoid some authors (Meg Cabot & Stephenie Meyer) because they wouldn't appeal to both boys and girls!.

"The Great Divorce," C!. S!. Lewis; easy to read, about 140 pages, a classic; a topic everyone's interested in!.

"The Little Prince," Saint-Exupery!. Everybody's favorite!.

"Johnny Tremain," Esther Forbes; Newbery Prize winner!. A lot of good introduction to the Revolutionary war period in American history!.

"Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians," Brandon Sanderson; Newbery Prize winner; hilarious "autobiography" of a boy wizard; great plot, has talking dinosaurs, etc!.

"Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!", Laura Schlitz; Newbery Prize winner; easy to read; 120 pages; excellent short portraits of English children of the medieval period (both boys and girls)!.

"Nineteen Ways of Looking at Wang Wei," Weinberger and Paz; excellent introduction to how poetry is written!.

"The Neverending Story," Michael Ende!. Great fantasy!.

"A Wrinkle in Time" series, L'Engle!.

"Bridge to Terabithia," Paterson!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Animal Farm" by George Orwell or "The Last Of The Mohicans" by Cooper are most likely be required reading somewhere in your English classes!. I suggest reading them now and getting them out of the way!.

"Last Chance To See" by Douglas Adams is a wonderful book!. Adams decided he wanted to travel the world to see endangered animals in their natural habitats before it was too late!. His adventures and misadventures running up against governmental bureaucracy is comical in places, which counterbalances the sad and poignant descriptions of these vanishing animals!.

You probably know your A,B,C's, but do you know your A, B, Z's!? Shel Silverstien's "A, B, Z Book" is a comedic look at our alphabet!. Described as a 'primer for adults,' one can only imagine the dangers of this book falling into young hands!. With suggestions that kidnappers have lots of candy and its a good idea to feed sugar to the ponies in your father's car (via the gas tank) it is clear to see that Uncle Shelby had a very twisted genius!. This book is fun, fast paced and short- but only because the alphabet has just 26 letters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For a young adult/teen I recommend Meg Cabot's young adult books!. She is the best author!. also best selling!. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, Airhead and more!. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her!.

If you want more info or any of the authors website's email me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
