Question: What books would you recommend for an 11yo moving from child to adult fiction!?
My daughter is an avid reader but she is keen to move on to older books!. The specific 'teen' ones she's already read or finds repetitive!.

I don't necessarily mean classics or worthy books just a really good rip roaring read, without loads of sex or violence!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some books I loved reading when I was her age:-

Anything by Jane Austen - Pride & Prejudice, Emma etc

Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre - she'll probably read these when she's at school, but it'll be good for her to get interested in influential writing by women!.

Pretty much all of the classics (Dickens and Emile Zola may also give her an insight into politics and sociology - she may still be a bit young for Zola but Dickens may interest her)!. I'd also say George Orwell - but again some of the themes may need explaining!.

You may also want to introduce her to Oscar Wilde and Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier!.

If she's interested in sci-fi/fantasy then HG Wells!. Jules Verne for adventure stories!.

Something more contemporary: the Montmorency series by Eleanor Updale is very good, and Ursula Le Guin writes interesting and mature science fiction/fantasy!.

Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I'd never let my kid at 11 to turn for adult fiction as he or she wouldn't understand the meaning of the story and it would destroy the experience for him or her and later he or she wouldn't read those books again, no matter that by then he or she would understand them properly!.
As we're talking of a girl here if she's over all the recently popular fantasy stuff and the giggly-girly books, too I'd try historical fiction for youngsters or teens plus she could check out the Anne of the Green Gables series and other children's fiction taking place at the turn of the 20th century!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For a young adult/teen Meg Cabot's young adult books!. She is the best author!. also best selling!. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, Airhead and more!. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her!.

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, by Stephenie Meyer
Vampire Kisses, by Ellen Schreiber
The Vampire Diaries- L!.J!. Smith
Define Normal
Angus, Thongs and full-frontal Snogging (and rest of series)- Louise Rennison (The tittles all sound kind of naughty, but there's nothing improper about them)
And, though it says it's adult fiction, if she likes Stephenie Meyer, I highly reccomend The Host by Stephenie Meyer!. I'm 14, and a huge fan of The Host, and there is nothing improper about it!. No adult rated scene!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

depends on what books shes into theres the fantasy elements to books like philip pullman, diana wynne jones and and older genre is steven kings dark tower fantasy books!.
