Question: Romantic Books!?
I'm out of books at the moment, and would like a few romance novel suggestions!. I've read and liked:

Jane Eyre, Romeo and Juliet, Twilight, The Host, Wuthering Heights, All of the Jane Austen Books, Don Quixote, and Rebecca!.

People have suggested Sarah Dessen books, but what are they about!? Is it average teen romance!?

I refuse to read the clique books or those books that are written all in text!.

I also enjoy fantasy (but have already read the Hobbit and LOTR!.)!. Don't suggest Eragon

As you can see, I'm a little picky!. However, if you have a really good book, especially a romance, I would love a brief description!. Suggest as many as you can think of!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I loved The House at Riverton!. It basically concerns a housemaid who grows up serving a rich English family!. She gains the trust of one of the daughters and helps keep her secrets!. The overarching drama leads up to a night when a poet shoots himself in front of the two daughters, and only they and the maid know the secret!. The premise is that a filmmaker is making a biopic about that night, leading the now-98 year old woman to look into her past!. There is a romance in the story which I found very sweet, but sad!. It's an excellent book, by Kate Morton!.

also try Anne Bronte!. I love the Bronte sisters, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is one of my favorites among their novels!. Concerns a young man pursuing the love of a mysterious woman who has moved into his small town!. also delves into the woman's disastrous marriage!. Excellent read! Agnes Grey is her other novel, about an unhappy young woman in some unfortunate situtations as a governess!.

Middlemarch, by George Eliot, is worth a look!. Tells of an intelligent woman who enters a marriage with an older man and a doctor who has a disastrous marriage!. I love how she characterizes the titular town!.

The Remains of the Day is about a butler taking a road trip, on which he ruminates upon his life and his chance with a former coworker!.

84, Charing Cross Road is a love story of sorts!.!.!. love between a woman and an antique book shop!. Nonfiction, told through letters, very short!.

Happy reading!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hello,

I agree with many of your ideas, but I actually love Eragon!.

However, try the Chrowthistle Chronicles!. It is a four-book series, but they are rather long!. They have a lot of unnecessary descriptions of places that get a bit dull, but they are hard-core romance novels!. Fantasy too!.

Good luck fellow reader!

Beastly by Alex Flinn!.

It's a modern Beauty and the Beast re-retelling!. A handsome, rich teen is turned into a beast by a witch and has to find true love else he'll remain a beast forever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Summer of my German Soldier, it's about a Jewish girl and a German soldier during the times of WWll they fall in love, but can't be together!.!.!.it's wonderfulWww@QuestionHome@Com

fairest - gail carson lavine

the penderwicks -- forgot (i seriously did)

You don't mention Harry Potter!. Maybe you haven't tried that yet!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe Vanity Fair by Thackaray!. Or The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne!? They're both really good!.

also The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald!. Or any by him-I haven't read them all, but I do think that they're mostly romances!.

Anna Karenina is a definite yes!. The length is a good thing because once you start, you probably won't want to stop!.

And maybe Ethan Frome!. I don't know if you'll like that one, but you could try it!.

And (just as a side note-it's not really a romance, but it's really good) try The Tempest!. Shakespeare is always the master!. =3 And it's one of his really original plays, so it's really good!.

Good luck with your search!. I'm definitely in the same boat you are!. =3Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love Sarah Dessen, My favorite is Someone like you which is about Scarlett and her best friend Halley!. Scarlett's boyfriend dies and Halley is there to comfort her and still comforts her when she learns she is pregnant!. Halley finds some romance from someone who is not her "type" she learns a lot about herself and Scarlett!. This novel is one of my favorites!.

Try the other Bronte Sister's works!. Wuthering heights is okay, Agnes Grey is better!.

Meg Cabot is another "average teen romance" but she still writes some of my favorite book!. All American girl is about a girl who saves the president's life and falls in love with his son!. Ready or Not is the sequel, also good!. This one shows more detials of their relationship!. The Princess Diaries books are about a girl who learns she is a princess of Genovia!.

Nicholas Sparks is another good one!. The Notebook, no description needed!. A Walk to Remember is my favorite book ever written, its about Landon who falls in love with Jamie as he learns so much more about her, himself, and God!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Have you read "The Chronicles of Narnia" by CS Lewis!? They're about children from our world going into a different one!. If you like LotR, you'll probably like this!.

I also recommend "A Great and Terrible Beauty" by Libba Bray!. That's about a girl who can go to the Realms, a place full of magic and danger!. It's mostly fantasy, but has some romance!.

Then there's the Maximum Ride books by James Patterson!. That's about teenagers who have wings due to genetic experimentation!. I've only read the first book, but the writing style is good and the heroine is very easy to relate to!. (First book: The Angel Experiment)

The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud!. That one is in the fantasy category!. It takes place in a world where magicians summon demons to do their will!. It's got well developed characters, and Bartimaeous, a djinni, will make you laugh!. (First book: The Amulet of Samarkand)

The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause!. This one is definitely my favorite vampire book!. It's about a girl whose mother is dying, who meets a vampire trying to get revenge on his evil brother!. It's very creepy and sent chills down my spine!.

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause!. I don't like this one as much as The Silver Kiss, but it's still pretty good!. It's about a werewolf named Vivian who falls for a human!. It's definitely original, that's all I'll say!.

Sarah Dessen's books!.!.!.yes, they're good!. I guess you could say that they are typical teen romance in a way, but they also aren't!. They aren't like the Clique at all, if that's what you're asking!. (Ugh, I hate the Clique so much!) The characters and situations are much deeper and they're better, more likable people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
