he was already the leader of some group of people because he could do amazing feats--of strength, stamina, and speed!. could have inherited some of that leadership too, I'm not sure!.

But in the story, he becomes king by killing the monster Grendel, which was easily slaying everyone else around!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

in the book that i read (never watched the movie) he killed a monster type thing in the forest, something that was killing people in the village or everyone who went in the forest, something like thatWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think he killed a legendary sea monster, and also because of his father who was famous or something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
