The fact that these are for "honors English" lets us know you're smart enough to figure it out!. Good Job on getting into honors! That's really something to be proud of!
Take your time reading and make sure you understand what you've just read before going onto the next chapter!. It's summer reading, so you've got time for that!
As another poster suggested, there are things like cliffs notes that can help you better understand, too!.
Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Alright calm down, have you ever heard of Spark notes these books aren't suppose to make sense they were written a while back if you don't understand them go on Spark notes or Cliff notes even wikipedia will have some answers!. also try reading one book at a time digest it before you keep reading if you don't get something stop and read it again look up words you don't know and worse case scenario take notes!. No book is so hard that you cannot conquer itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Dandelion wine is basically the story of a boy, (Doug Spaulding) aged twelve (I think), and is both fun and easy to read!. The novel reads like a collection of short stories, (infact most of the chapters are complete stories in themselves and have been published seperately several times!. e!.g; The Happiness machine; The Night; The Ravine; et!.c)!. This one should be enjoyable! Bradbury is a magician!

The Lord of the Flies is a bit gruesome!.!.!.!.well I thought so, but then I was only nine when I read it!.!.!.!.!. it's about how weak the grasp of civilization is upon people!. How superficial it is! Basically the book, in my opinion, tries to show that although we consider ourselves civilized, things can change really quickly when we are released from the restricting forces of society!. It makes you look at kids and humanity in general in a whole new way!.!.!.!.!.There's nothing nice or mild about this book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Lord of the Flies" gives the author's vison of what would happen if people were to be removed from the evil-repressing forces of civilization and society!. See, Golding believed that people are fundamentally evil!.

"The Scarlet Pimpernel" is a really good adventure story that pits good and evil against each other!. Think Clark Kent / Superman meets the Count of Monte Cristo!

I've read both more than once!. Um, what do you mean they don't make sense!? Give them a chance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course the books are supposed to make sense, jeez!.

Careful reading, without the distractions, and they will be
1!. Crystal clear
2!. Fun (well, Dandelion Wine will be!. The others are 'heavier!.')
3!. You still have July and August to read these books; how can you say 'NONE of these books makes sense to!.!.!.' you!?
4!. Sparknotes, Cliff notes, summaries never answer all the questions, but go for it if that's what you like!.
5!. Going to college!? You'll hear of these books again anyway!.

Have a good summer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
