Question: Tess of the D'Urbervilles!?

Do you think this is a good story!? I am in the middle of reading it and it is not as good as I thought it would be; I find Tess to be a rather irritating character!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It might just Thomas Hardy's style!. He draws everything out, but that is just because that is how it was done back then!. The story actually isn't that bad!. I like it, but I agree with you!. Wading through the entire book takes some time!. There was a movie based on the book that follows it pretty accurately!. If you get frustrated you might try that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I really enjoyed this book, but you have to appreciate life was very much slower in those days,they walked where-ever they went and rarely left their villages, so it seems to be boring in places!. Have you read Far from the Madding Crowd also by Thomas Hardy!.!?

Thomas Hardy tended towards depressing stories!. Someone tricked me into reading it telling me that it was Hardy's "happy book!." Well it's not!. It's morose and really quite horrible!. I read and read waiting for good things to happen, and they didn't!. This book is a woman's worst nightmere!. Get your KlenexWww@QuestionHome@Com
