Do they ask because they are just too lazy to find a copy of the book and read it themselves!? (Laziness)

OR

Do they ask because they will read the book eventually but they have to spend a few hours on the internet first!? (Procrastination)

It might be both procrastination and laziness!. It might even be cheating, if they are asking because they have to read the book for school!.

Of course it might just be because they want to know if the book is worth buying!. I know that I can't always afford to buy any book that seems interesting to me, and my town library doesn't always carry the books I want to read!.

Not only that, but I don't always have time to read every book that catches my eye if it might turn out to a dull, poorly written book!.

Now I've never asked for a summary on here, and I never answer the questions that do, but I always read the back cover blurb (well, okay usually), and sometimes I ask for others' opinions, or even look up a brief synopsis (no spoilers) before choosing a book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it depends on the timing of the asking!.
If they just got the assignment and immediately ask for a summary, it's laziness and they may have no plans to read the book, or they may simply use the summary for help in understanding the plot!.
If they've had the assignment for a while, and it the question says "I need this now!!," then it could be procrastination and/or laziness!.

Most of the time I think it's laziness or unwillingness to read, an attempt to let the internet to do the homework itself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've seen a bit of everything: the ones that are obviously too lazy to do it themselves, the ones that had a month to read the book yet waited until the night before to get to work on it and of course are freaking out, and those that honestly are just seeking a bit extra help because they feel insecure about their own summaries!. You can pretty much tell which one falls in which category based on the way they post!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes you have to find out what it says in a book rather than actually read it!. Say you are set an assignment and have already read other books by the same author and no that he/she is no good!. Why put yourself through the torture of actually reading it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is neither proscrastination nor laziness!. I believe it to be either curiosity, or, more likely, a sign that one is really not a reader of books, but prefers to acquire information and knowledge through other media!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Laziness AND procrastination!. AND ignorance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would say laziness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
