Question: Any good summer reading for a soon-to-be junior!?
I like the Twilight series, The Life of Pi, A Tale of Two Cities, And Then There Were None, The Kite Runner, and Harry Potter, but I'm trying to expand into deeper stuff!. I would like to read some books that would help prepare me for college and some that are well known classics!. Any ideas!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Junior year, I had to read The Scarlet Letter, The Great Gatsby, and a few other classics!. Your school district should have a list of required reading online somewhere!.

Some Jane Austen is always good!. I read Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Crime and Punishment my senior year, and both remain two of my favorite books!.

You could search a list of classics, pick out some that you've heard of, and read those!. I bet you could email an old teacher and ask him/her what they would recommend you read for next year!. That would probably be the biggest help!.

Good luck!

EDIT
Thought I'd throw in 1984, Lord of the Flies, Madame Bovary, Kafka's Metamorphosis, Atlas Shrugged, The Things They Carried, Ellison's Invisible Man, The Age of Innocence (my second-favorite EVER)!. I had to read both of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth in HS!. All served me well so far, especially considering that I'm an English major!.

PS Kudos for Life of Pi!. It's a favorite of mine!.

Books I'd recommend that are just good are Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything, Nick Hornby's High Fidelity, Lisa See's Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Gregory Maguire's Wicked, and most Chuck Palahniuk (it's pretty different and I'd recommend starting with Invisible Monsters)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love Meg Cabot (Heather Wells & Queen of Babble) and Sophie Kinsella's (Shopaholic [soon to be movie] & Remember Me) books!. I am in the process of reading Emily Giffin's (Something Borrowed & Something Blue, Baby Proof) books!. They are all great authors!

For a young adult/teen I recommend Meg Cabot's young adult books!. She is the best author!. also best selling!. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, Airhead and more!. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her!.
