Question: When Writing a Story, How Do You Explain Feelings!?
I want to write a book, but I can't seem to "formulate" my ideas!. Anyone have any suggestions that can help!? How DO you explain feelings, like those you remember, when you awaken from a dream!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The best way to explain a feeling or emotion is through analogies!. Figure out something that compares to that feeling!. Or a physical reaction that feeling gives your body!.

Love may be butterflies in your stomach!.
Happiness may warm your cheeks or force a smile!.
Angry may make your body tremble or burn!.
A dream may feel like a faint memory!. Or a vivid image that just had to be real!.

Hope that helps!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like to open a fresh document, and just type random thoughts and sentences, without worrying about grammar or punctuation or any of that rubbish!. Write from your heart!. When re-read, emotions, and descriptions of said emotions begin to appear!. From here it's easy to find the words to explain the feelings you are talking about!.

Otherwise just write the way you like to read!.

As an aside, dreams are a bad place to start; they are to obscure and complex to be accurately put to paper easily!. David Lynch is the only person I have ever seen recreate a dream-like idea well in film or literature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Greetings,

I know what you mean!.
Just speak from your heart as you write it down!.
Try writing two or three sentences/or ideas!.
Eliminate one!. Add another if needed!. Blend or combine your sentences that you like the best into one that expresses your feelings better if you can!. After that you could write your idea expessing it in simlar words or wording that you "might" like!. Just keep brain storming!. Do not give up!. Do not let it get you down!. It will come to you!

Bless you in your efforts,

It can be tough, but just practice!. Get it down on paper, even if it's bad!. The more you write that's rubbish, the more you'll find out what works and what doesn't!. And every time you write something that works, put it somewhere safe so you can refer back to it when you need to use it in a story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

just put urself in your character's shoes!.!.example,what if you just won the lottery, how would you feel!?then put that into paper!.!.writing is like bing a puppet master, everything depends on you!.!.so the best way to do that is to BE everything!.its like all the characters are you,you play the part!.!.so just put urself in your characters shoes, and your all good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
