Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Depends on the writer - some writers it doesn't take very long to write a novel, others take forever!. But, on average, it takes a year to get a rough draft!. Then you put it away for six months and don't look at it!. After that, edit and revise for another six months to a year!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I'm not published or anything, but my first book took roughly two months!. The novel I am currently writing I started yesterday and I'm only a page and a half into!. I would put the estimate, once again, depending on skill level, anywhere from a month to a year, just rough draft!.
