Basically, she's asking "why do we write stuff down"!? Think about why your parents tell you things, why we have rituals in our lives, why we hear the same stories over and over!.!.!.!.!.!.in other words, we try to leave a piece of ourselves to posterity, so that it doesn't fade away when we die!.

In other words, we want to write on the wall of life:
