Question: Character development in a book - differentiating characters!?
Ok, I'm planning on writting a book, and I'm having a little trouble with the characters!. Obviously, you want to make the characters different, and that seems hard to do in a book with multiple main characters (like 6-8)!. I can't give any details, but basically there are two characters that are supposed to be similar, but I think they're too much alike!. If I try to make one different, he seems to be too much like one of the other characters!. It's as if I'm already using all the characteristics out there on the other characters!.

Now, when I think of characters!.!.!.I think of who they are!.!.!.like character traits (like quiet, sincere, passionate), ways they express themselves (their mannerisms), and feelings they often have (like some may be more prone to sadness and others more prone to anger)!. I tend not to think as much about what they are, what they do (as in what they do for a living), or what they look like!. Is this a pretty good view on character!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like to write little background stories for my characters!. Or I'll write their likes and dislikes!. Sometimes you just have to focus on one character at a time, before you intertwine their stories!. Sometimes it's fun to figure out why your characters act how they act!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
