Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Anthem is a short novela written by Ayn Rand, the shortest of her works!. It is essentially a science-fiction story, set at an unknown year in the future at a time when mankind has entered into some sort of "dark age" in which collectivism has eliminated all individuality and personality!. Jobs are chosen by a group of leaders, clothing is all the same, everything is heavily regulated, and the word "I" has disappeared from the English language!. In Anthem, Rand begins to discuss her philosophy (Objectivism) with the ideas of individualism vs!. collectivism, and the futility of collective thought!.

I liked Anthem a lot, but not nearly as much as Rand's more prolific work (the Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged)!. It is very short and easy to read, you'll get through it in a day!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's the least intolerable book Rand wrote, but that's only because it's a rip-off of Zamyatin's 'We!.' At least it's short, and you're not stuck reading The Fountainhead! It was before Rand's ego got the better of her, so it's at least readable--read 'We' or at least '1984' thereafter to get an idea of what better authors have done with that specific sort of dystopia, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i read it, but i didn't like it!. it is really short and it is pretty much about a future civilization that has lost all of its advancements because it has lost the importance of individuality!. the civilization is like super communist type of thing!. then this one guy and girl become individuals and escapeWww@QuestionHome@Com

You don't happen to go to a school in Maryland, do you!? o_o

!.!.!. yeah!. I haven't read it, but I just kind of found that pretty cool!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
