I think he was a brilliant scholar and a wonderful writer, too. I don't know about that sexist comment, since he not only loved but had the greatest respect for Joy Davidman Gresham, who eventually became his wife. From everything I've seen and read, as far as he was concerned, she was his equal in every way, including intellectually.

I love the Chronicles of Narnia series, but I also think his Mere Christianity was a masterpiece. The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce were both very unique. In fact all of the books written by C.S. Lewis show that creativity and wonderful logic of his.

One thing I always found interesting was that C.S. Lewis, John F. Kennedy and Aldous Huxley died on the same day within hours of each other.

he was a little sexist, but i do think he was a very good writer. =D

I think he is a wonderful author who used Christian symbolism to a great extent in his work, therefore showing his belief in the Christian faith through his work and providing the world with an excellent source for discussion on the topic of religious symbolism that can be discussed by people in a large age group.

I think that he was a talented author although I did not enjoy all of his books. Especially towards the end of the Narnia series, he uses quite a bit of symbolism from Christianity. One of the main reasons that I did not enjoy this series (SPOILER) was since they all died at the end of the book, the world came to an end and then they all continued in a 'richer' life which was meant to be heaven ....

I think he was brilliant. One of his lesser known novels is, I believe, one of the great novels of the 20th century-- "Till We Have Faces".

As far as Lewis being sexist, I don't think that is quite true. He was a brilliant intellectual. He had little patience with those who couldn't keep up. Speaking as a woman, I have to admit, that most women can't keep up with that kind of intellect [neither can most men, but Lewis was surrounded by brilliant male thinkers]. He married a woman named Joy Davidman who could match his intellect and he had great respect for her.

In fact, the main character of "Till We Have Faces" is a woman. Lewis's rendering of this female character is convincing, which is very hard for a male writer to achieve.

I really like him,his books are great and he's also got some great quotes

i think he's fantastic.

he was a good christian writer, end of story(period).

I like C.S. Lewis, especially Mere Christianity. I also enjoy his Chronicles of Narnia. I don't agree with every word the man says, but overall, his arguments are great and his writing style is smooth.
