Texture takes some practice!. You do very well with skin and hair, but your cats are definitely lacking fur (and the proportions are off)!. Draw fur like you draw hair!. Keep the length of your strokes proportional to the length of the fur!. Overlap and keep some randomness in the direction (i!.e!. don't make them all parallel)!. The best book I have seen on drawing texture is "Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil" by J!.D!. Hillberry!. It helped me out a ton when I needed work on texture!.

I personally find composition more difficult, especially with portraits!. Getting in close and leaving some parts off the page is a very good start!. You could try adding a dark background sometimes, or dark on one side, light on the other to contrast with the subject!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Firstly, wonderful work!. I love it, I made Diana look like a monster when I tried to draw her in graphite!.

I would only say you need to work a little on the proportions and lines of the face!. The Koi looks great, so it's just with people!.

Did you start working from just drawing gridlines on a picture of someone and on your final paper, then filling in each square!? It's how we learned to do it all in perfect proportion at my school!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
