If the red is cooler, and the yellow warmer, you will get an orange that's a bit more of a neutral instead of the spectrum orange everyone thinks of!. If the red is warmer and the yellow cooler, then I find I'm able to get more of a more intense orange!. Of course this answer assumes more yellow than red, because it's really easy to just warm up a red with yellow if you add yellow first, instead of small amounts of red to yellow!. And don't even get me started on the difference with using specific yellow and red paint colors!.
