Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Great question! Really! I think the answer is fairly simple!. In music there are standard notes which most of us can discern with our ears!. Our ears tell us when the sound is off!. The "standard notes" in art are a bit more nebulous!. The average person does not know about color theory, composition, value, line, etc!. Therefore it is not surprising that the average person can not "see" whether a work of art meets any criteria for being good!. So appreciation of, judgment of, and tastes in art are much more subjective than they are in music!. For example, am am NOT a country music fan, but I can tell when a singer does not meet with the standards for being able to sing a country ballad! Just like some forms of modern art stretch the definitions of art, some music also tweaks what our own ears hear as music!!! But, while we know when the rhythm is totally off or the singer's voice is flat, we don't always know when an artist is clueless about composition or how to mix colors!. I think if more people had the knowledge to view, appreciate, evaluate, or share their feelings about art the way we do about music, that art would come under new interest and perhaps even new scrutiny, and would become a mainstream topic!. But these days most conversations about art tend to be negative, because the art being discussed is so on the edge that it is hard for most to identify it as art with their limited foundation in the attributes of fine art!Www@QuestionHome@Com Personally, I think anything can be classified as art as long as you're expressing yourself somehow, and as long as some sort of emotion is invovled!. Art is supposed to make you feel emotions!. Art is supposed to be a way of self-expression!. Art is anything you want, or need it, to be!. Besides not too many people can sing good!. Or paint good!. When I see someone who can, I'm amazed and shocked!. Singing and painting can provoke emotion, so that's why they're art forms!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Painting is more subjective than singing!. With singing you either hit the right notes, or you don't!. (Of course some do it better than others!.)
