Well, the thing is that a digital image really is sharper, than a negative!. But you have to take in the fact that films have grain!. And when you shoot film, the image quality is actually better, because most of the time you have a greater range of tones with film!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No digital on the market today will equal any film camera that would be comparable!.

Digital depends upon a myriad of little dots, film is a continuous surface!. As long as the little dots are there, the picture will hperpixellate rapidly!.

The comment that says that a medium format has 48mp is not correct either!.

If you want medium format for the best quality, I would get it!. The prices are low now for both the cameras and lense!. The argument that film is too expensive is not true, film is still not as expensive as digital when you consider the price of the camera, the price of the printer, the price of the paper and the price of the ink!.

right now, and this is somewhat cheaper than most processors, I am getting 120 film developed for 6 bucks a roll and digitalized onto a disk for 2 bucks more!. Prints are 2 bucks each for 4x6

You just have to hunt for the man who can do it for that and stay in business!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, your response to the initial question is correct!. A typical 120 format film format image contains at least 48 megapixels and easily overshadows a 12 megapixel digital image!. That's why the pros still state that "film" photography is superior to "digital" photography!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well it is true that medium format still holds more information per inch then what we have on the digital market TO-DAY!. However, you are talking OLD versus new!. As of now the standard for a marketable skill in photography is digital, not film!.

Sad but True!.

The other issue is that 12 mega pixels is very miss leading!. what you really want to be concerned with is the dpi or ppi (dots per inch)or(something else)!. a good rule of thumb is to convert your image to 300 dpi thats pretty much all the quality you need!. The dimensions of the image will change and that will set the standard for how you c an rate your quality!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think many pros would agree with you - digital still doesn't match the quality of a really good film image!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!.!.!. now a 30 megapixel image from a medium format digital might be though!.

Medium format film or digital!? I use the Mamiya 645ZD, and the detail is much better than my Canon Rebel XTi!.!.!. but it isn't always needed!.!.!. just when I want to make larger prints!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Digital sucks and film rules!. Medium format is waaaaay better than a digital print!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well sure!.!.!. It's just 12megapixel!. medium format is bigger than full frame!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
