Question: How can you make the edges of a photo fade out into black!?
I'm reasonably good at photoshop, but still very inexperience!. This effect adds a lot of mood to photos, any advice would be muchly appreciated! Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is a vignette!. And I am sure the effect is available in lots of photo editing software!. You will have to research some software!. Here is a free online editing site that has vignettes:

Photoshop has a venette slider under the filters!. lens correction!.
Or you can select withe one of the selection tools close to the edge of the photo!. feather it to something above 150!. inverse!. command J to put the selected on its own layer then change the blend mode to multiply!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

it has to be done during the developing process!. You expose the area of the picture that you want to be black to light, without exposing the rest of the picture!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

open photo in photoshop
set background color to black
select all
go to feather, type in a border width (a bigger number makes a softer fade)
inverse your selection
press deleteWww@QuestionHome@Com

use the airbrush or diffused pen tool with the color black, draw around the border by hand!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
