Question: How would i paint a candel with acrilics!?
I had an idea to paint on candles for the art technique we need to do for our art presentation I'm just wondering a few things:

1!.Is this a legitimate art craft
2!. How would I go about painting it
3!. Is there a better paint/technique to use!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey, I'vew painted on a candel before, and when I did it, it easily easily rubs off!. very easily, watch out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

acrylics are great, but very very thick!. the colours are deep and pure, but very solid if you know what i mean!. Acrylics tend to be harder to work with when you want to show tint and shade (light and shadows), which are essential to drawing a flame!. Mind you, its not impossible but it is harder, you tend to need to mix more shades and tints of colours that you'd think possible to create a smooth transition from a tint to a shade!.

painting (and sketching, drawing etc etc) things such as a candle with light is a great way to learn about not using hard lines (outlines) and to under how shades and tins can make a painting look that much better!. i've found that if you do a painting of something like a lamp or candle every once in a while its a great way to show how you grow as an artist and get closer to achieving your goal!.

for painting a candle i'd recommend using watercolours or acrylics!. watercolours are great to use when you're learning how to shade, but to some people they can be unsatisfyingly bleak, and washed out (well duh)!. theyre easier to make shades and tints with, because you simply add more water
the challenge for using acrylics sometimes can be learning to apply in thin enough layers that you can create shade and tint!. Using acrylics is a good way to understand how light hits an object and how we perceive that!.

to go about painting it, i'd recommend using a pencil to sketch a very rough outline!. depending on the level of reality you want and can achieve with your art, vary from either simply painting a single candle, no surface under it, no candle holder, no background; painting a candle in a simple holder with a simple object under it, such as a table and a simple background; painting a candle being held by a person (this may be harder, because you must understand how light can hit a human body) background and simple or complex holder; and painting a variety or a single candle in a complex setting!. all of these can be varied to your liking and dont structure your art too much!. have fun!

remember to have a large work area and set up everything you'll need beforehand such as water, many brushes, a place to mix your paint, good lighting, maybe music, and if you'd like to be illustrating still life get a candle!. remember pencils, towels, oh and dont forget your paint and canvas!

and have fun :) good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
