It's just quite noticeable the difference even if you aren't that close to the eye and I was just wondering why!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Red-eye comes from light reflecting from the back of the eye!. Most cameras these days have a 'red-eye reduction' mode, which is somewhat effective!. You can get a program called 'the gimp' for free, which has a lot of the same features as photoshop!. I haven't used it for a while but I seem to remember there was a red-eye reduction plug-in for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the images above, there isn't enough light to bring out the color in your eyes!. Red eye is not a natural phenomena!. It occurs due to the fast & intense burst of light from a camera flash (for example) enters the iris (of your eye) before it has time to react and close!. The lights bounces around and reflects back to the camera!. It's red because, any guesses!? Blood! Try shooting them in low or softer light source then a camera flash!. A longer exposure will help too!. But, if its to long, the image will blur because (no offense) I doubt you can sit perfectly still long enough!. Experiment with your camera, and check the menu settings!. It may have an option for red eye removal in which case you should be able to utilize the cameras flash for close up pictures of the eye!. also, the longer the shutter is open the more time information gets through to the film or sensor, hence more color!. Experiment! There are plenty of tutorials out there for the plethora of photo editing applications to remove red eye!. Good luck, and nice eyes!.

bad lighting is the simple answer!.
If you were to have a proper portrait taken then I am sure your eyes would show up as the correct colour!.

Red eye is caused by the flash being to close to the lens axis causing a reflection from the blood vessels in the eye directly back to the camera!.
All p&s cameras suffer from this and SLR's with the flash on the top of the camera will suffer as well!.
The way to cure this properly is to have the lighting away from the camera to one side or in the case of point and shoot cameras is to have a pre-flash which opens up the eye and reduces the amount of red-eye!.

well!.!.!.in the pictures that you have provided, your eyes look grey-ish because the lense was so close to your eye, and the lighting was bad!.
when the flash is on and makes it red, that is just because of the way the flash hits the pigment in your eyes!.
my little sister is the only one in my family that has really blue eyes, and hers are usually always red in pictures!. but it does it with any color eyes!.
so if you want your eyes to show up blue in pictures, then i suggest that you turn your flash off on your camera, and you use better lighting, as well as having the camera a little farther away!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your camera isn't great judging by the lighting!. you will need to take a photo in good light and this should show the correct colour!.

As a professional photographer, I find it quite hard to shoot people with red eye!.!. not that I try!. but as said above, its the light hitting off the back of your eye, multi flash will get the eye to close and the effect is lessened!.

Picasa has a tool for fixing red eye, its not that good but it will work fairly well!.

My eyes are blue, grey or green as they change with my mood, as you can see from this pic:

they are very blue and it shows up due to the black and white use for the rest of the frame!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As said, your real problem is not enough light!. And that does NOT mean to use flash!. You need good, natural light!. Photoshop can help, I played with it a little, but it is always better to get it right in the camera in the first place!.

Here is the Photoshop adjustment I made to the photo!.
