Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I would say that no, there aren't, based upon my experience, but then the world and technology have changed so much in the past 30 years that there might be hope for you!. I was a very good photographer, had a great eye for pictures!. But the only jobs available for me were either newspaper or studio/portrait photographer!. I would have had gotten a major in Journalism at my college to graduate with photography!. If you want a job in photography, you have to be able to sell what you shoot!. Who's buys pictures!? Magazines, newspapers, greeting card and calendar makers!? Low markets for all of the volume of photographers out there!. It also depends upon what kind of photographer you want to be!. If media, then maybe you could get on with some city newspaper, but it's a dying art!. Small town papers might give you a better chance of earning a living, but it's not much!. I know, I'm from a small town!. If you want to deal with stuido work or portraits, it's easier to get into an established studio, learn the trade and then buy or make your own business!. But you definitely want to have business degree or some classes, because I've known a major southern California portrait studio photographer--owned the business---and he almost lost it few times because he didn't understand the management of his business!. Now, this is only about STILL photography!. How about video!? Maybe a tv or movie photographer!. Digital has made it so much easier with smaller cameras!. also, tv news crews!. Lots of tv studios all across the country, and they always need a few video news crews to shoot the important stories!. But it can be a hard life!. Anything in journalism or news is a hard business!. Little pay for too much work!. You can always try to sell your photos yourself like an artist!. It's a very different lifestyle, but some do make livings off photography as an art!. It's too bad that photography doesn't pay more or isn't a more substantial vocation!. Because the 20th and future 21st centuries were certainly immortalized by photography!. It's what helped us to understand ourselves better over the years!. Photography helps us to see our history and review it easier than the printed page!. So hope that thsi doesn't bring you down!. You never know, your college or university may have a new outlook on photography that will open up a great career for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com perhaps If the National Geographic Society hires you, you can easily take home 130-150,000 a year paparazzi can make over 100,000 year working at the local mall in some glamor shot place pays 8 bucks a hour sports photographers can make 50-60,000 taking artistic shots and selling them on your website -- you won't make anything selling them on a commercial website-- a few bucks newspapers- photojournalism about 20,000 overseas in war torn country 60-80,000Www@QuestionHome@Com |
